How To Play Poker

Texas Hold ’em

Have fun learning to play one of the classic poker games — Texas Hold ’em. The more you play, the more you’ll understand the nature and beat of the game. The object of the game is to create the best 5-card poker hand, using any combination of seven cards. Before any cards are dealt, the player sitting next to the dealer button places a small “blind” bet, whereas the person sitting directly to the left of that person places a large blind bet.

Here are a few simple rules to follow when playing Texas Hold ’em:

  • Every player receives seven cards: two down and five community cards
  • The dealer deals two face down cards to each person, starting with the small blind bet player
  • Betting begins, starting first with the small blind bet player
  • The 3rd, 4th and 5th cards are dealt face up, which is called the flop, followed by a betting round
  • The 6th card is turned face up (the turn) followed by betting
  • The 7th card is revealed, which is referred to as the river
  • Final bets are placed
7-Card Stud

7-Card Stud is another not to be missed game in The Big Easy Poker Room. The object of 7-Card Stud is to create the best hand of five cards. Grab a drink and a side of nachos and learn how to play this poker game that includes a big showdown at the end:

  • The 4th card is dealt face up, followed by another round of betting
  • The 5th card is dealt face up, followed by more betting occurs
  • The 6th and 7th cards are dealt face up, with betting occurring after each dealt card
  • Showdown! Each player will turn their remaining face down cards over and the dealer will announce “all hands show,” and declare a winner
