History

Mardi Gras Casino and Resort was opened in 1985, as Tri-State Greyhound Park and focused mainly on greyhound racing. In 1990, the facility was purchased by Hartman & Tyner a Florida-based gaming organization. In 2002, the property received a 57,000 square-foot addition and gaming facilities and was renamed Tri-State Racing & Gaming Center. The property flourished as the premiere gaming location in the Charleston area. In 2007, Kanawha County passed table gaming and Hartman & Tyner quickly added the new amenity to the property operations. One year later, in 2008, after the addition of table gaming the property was renamed Mardi Gras. Along, with the addition to Table Games the property began expansion and a 150-room luxury hotel accommodations were added to the property in 2010 and the name was updated to Mardi Gras Casino & Resort.

In 2018, the property was purchased from Hartman & Tyner by Delaware North, a New York based hospitality management organization.
