Mardi Gras West Virginia Hotel Manager Jerry Anderson
Mardi Gras West Virginia Hotel Manager Jerry Anderson is a West Virginia native born in Mullens, WV in 1962. Jerry attended Glen Rogers Grade and High School and after graduating in 1980 went on to Marshall University where he earned a degree in Political Science. His father was a coal operator and when the coal industry took a down turn, the family moved to Atlanta after living in Huntington, WV for six years.
Jerry began his hotel career at the Lanier Plaza in midtown Atlanta where he worked for 10 years. He was mentored by the General Manager there and was moved up from the Front Desk to Supervisor, then Banquet Manager and on to Assistant GM. Richfield Hotel Management, then one of the largest and most well-respected management companies, oversaw the property for a number of years. He left there for a brief period of time to start up a company with senior management from Lanier Plaza in Pompano Beach, FL at the Palm Aire Resort and left there shortly after when it was sold.
Jerry moved back to Atlanta when the city was awarded the 1996 Olympic Games and realized that he did not want to miss out on that excitement. His property was a Holiday Inn Express adjacent to the Olympic Stadium. Soon after, Jerry was offered employment with LaQuinta Inns and moved to Charlotte, NC. He opened their first Inns and Suite property in Charlotte and worked for several other premiere Charlotte-based companies while there. Jerry was elected to the Board of Directors of the Greater Charlotte Hospitality and Tourism Alliance and worked on many programs for the Charlotte Market eventually becoming their Chairman for the 2008-2009 terms.
After 25 years of big city living, Jerry decided it was time to go back to his roots and searched for jobs at Charleston, WV Hotels. He soon found a home at Mardi Gras West Virginia Hotel. After a long career in the industry Jerry has a great passion for making Mardi Gras West Virginia Hotel the best of West Virginia luxury hotels.
